We compile data from trusted media outlets, press releases, and proprietary industry sources.
OUR MISSION
We track, verify, and analyze law firm combinations to provide managing partners, investors, and industry observers with accurate insights into consolidation trends. We believe that better data leads to better decisions—whether you are evaluating a merger, assessing your platform’s investability, or planning for succession.
OUR METHODOLOGY
How We Track the Market
We prize accuracy over speed. MergerWatch tracks mergers, acquisitions, and combinations involving law firms with a U.S. presence.
We focus on substantive combinations across both corporate and consumer legal sectors. Solo practitioner mergers are excluded to ensure our data reflects genuine market movement.
We distinguish between “True Mergers” (balanced combinations) and “Acquisitions” (where the acquirer is more than 2x the size of the target) to provide a clearer picture of power dynamics.
